Understanding your boss - problem in work restructuring

A new boss often to conduct a detail surveillance to his/her team because he/she needs to understand more the process inside department or division related and also to recognize the way his/her workteam member to work. If he/she doesn’t understand this situation, the workteam member that is get used to freedom or full trust of their superior before this new one will consider this thing as a bridling and not as a work recognition and adjustment. In other aspect, a new boss also brings a new working way and solution and he/she often to push his/her new workteam to follow this kind new way because the boss is very confident of its success to handle matter. But, in another hand, workteam member can be very uncomfortable of this process, or more worst, they may get faith that their own way is more effective their their new boss’ way to solve matter.

This kind of working situation will bring argue between the superior and his/her workteam. It will make unconditional work situation and bring bad thing to everyone. The workteam member may can not resist their boss because of superiority. But if workteam member feel uncomfortable continuously, it just only will bring trouble to their self.

According to that situation, let’s get know these suggestions carefully. It may help us to build trust and understanding between boss and the workteam member. And then we can avoid bad things that may happens and reach a good working relationship.

1. Watch carefully and understand the character and the way your boss working

At this point, seek positive sides of your boss and focus on his/her thinking and working way that is in parallel with your way of thinking. Discuss the way or model of communication which is comfortable to both of you in utterance of critic or credit. This understanding will help you to know the right time or the best way to communicate effectively with your boss and reach his/her trust.

2. Help your boss to understand working process at your workingplace

Show to your new boss about working process at your workingplace and discuss its pros and cons. Plan improvement or change based on discussion result so it will bring a better working process for everyone.

3. Open to a new thing

Just do the work as your new boss’ instruction. Discuss the pros and cons of this new way as input to your boss. It will give a new knowledge to you and show your respect to the new boss

4. Build and reach trust of your boss, starting from a simple matter

Ask a small task or working target that is not too significant to your new boss and ask his/her approvement so you can working on it with your way or your idea to reach the target approved. If at this task your boss know that you reach the target so, it will be a new step to your boss to trust you working independently. This succeed shall continue with asking a new task or target bigger then the last one to upraise your independent.
